On January 10, 2026, Dorchester County officially recognized a remarkable milestone by proclaiming “150 Years of Sims Family Agricultural Heritage Day.” This proclamation honors a legacy that began in 1876, when Franklin Sims acquired and deeded the land that has remained in the Sims family for 150 consecutive years of ownership and farming operations.
